Shakib Al Hasan recently announced his retirement in a press conference. He said the t20i match against Afghanistan in World Cup 2024 was the last match of his t20i career.
Moreover, regarding his retirement from Test career, he said that the last match of the Test series to be held against South Africa in Mirpur could be the last match of his Test career. But it will be possible only if the Bangladesh Cricket Board can ensure its security.
His demand is due to the recent political situation in Bangladesh. This situation has arisen as a result of the fall of the Awami League government, as
he was a member of Parliament.
However, he said he would be happy if he could end his Test career on home soil in Mirpur.
